Bochum - Paderborn
Bochum faces Paderborn in round 21 of the Bundesliga II. The match is of some importance but not of a key one. The 3 points would give the winner some confidence for the last part of the season and, of course, the distance to the top 3 would be much smaller. The hosts are the favorites in this tie but the goal-happy Paderborn are not to be taken lightly.
Bochum is the 8`th team of the league with 30 points and 8-6-6 so far. They are only 4 points to 4`th placed Union Berlin but there is a lot of competition. Bochum has been good at home this season but frankly, they haven`t beaten any strong side. They have wins over the teams from the bottom part of the table while against St.Pauli they lost 1:3, Koln 0:2 and Dresden 0:1. Those were the 3 matches they lost while in total they have 6-1-3 at home. Recently, they have produced some goal friendly games and 4 of the last 5 went over 2.5 goals.
Paderborn is ranked 7`th with 31 points and 8-7-5 thus far. Paderborn is also the newly promoted team and they have no respect. They were the top scoring side in the 3.Liga and they are trying to emulate the experience. And it works as they average even 4 goals per game and have the best attack of the league. The problem is, however, that they also have one of the worst defenses. And while they have more success at home they tend to struggle on away ground. Away from home, they have just 3-1-5 and 15:15 gd. Even with not so optimistic stats, they have some interesting wins. They took wins against Heidenheim 1:5, Ingolstadt 1:2 and Koln 3:5. It seems that when they get things going their way they can tare apart any team. The most recent success was against Greuther Furth which they won at home with 6:0. All of the main attacking forces are in the team for this clash.
The home side will be missing for this one Ganvoula, Patrick Fabian, Baris Ekincier, Maxim Leitsch, Jannik Bandowski, Thomas Eisfeld, and Milos Pantovic. There will have to be some reshuffling in defense with the rarely used Baumgartner(1-0) taking his place in the back line. Also, there are doubts over the use of the attacker Weilandt(18-7).
Paderborn will field the same lineup as in the last match.
I couldn`t say who will win this but goals should come. The previous one ended 2:2 on Paderborn`s ground.
