Leipzig - Eintracht
Leipzig welcomes Eintracht Frankfurt in the round 21 of the Bundesliga. At the Red Bull Arena, the hosts will try to justify the role of the favorite but they are facing the tricky team of Eintracht.
Leipzig is having a solid season and is on the 4`th place with 37 points and 11-4-5 so far. They hold that last Champions League place and neither the second and third are far away. But I gather there will be more problems preserving that 4`th place as Leverkusen behind them is on the move. Leipzig is quite defensive this season and is actually the best defensive side of the league with 18 goals conceded. It is especially effective at home where they conceded just 7 goals. Here they also score much more and are one of the best scoring teams. They are quite dependent on good performances of scorers Poulsen and Werner who both scored 21 goals. Werner was sick with the flu in midweek but will be ready for today.
There are certain problems in defense, however, as they will be missing the suspended Konate(16-1) and Upamecano(14-0) injured. Also out are Kampl(mid.17-1) and Haidara(mid.0-0).
Leipzig didn`t start the second period well and lost at home to Dortmund 0:1 but created more chances and had more shots. They were unlucky I guess. They picked themselves up however and took clear wins against Fortuna and Hannover and also in the cup against Wolfsburg. This will bring their confidence level for sure.
Eintracht is having a topsy turvy season and they started it badly. Then they had a great run of 6 wins in 7 just to be brought back to earth again. Eintracht started the second part well with a win over Freiburg 3:1 but they were lucky. Freiburg created tons of chances but was not nearly as clinical as Rebic, Haller, and Jovic. Against Werder, again, they were dominated with Werder being a threat all the time. Werder should have secured the win long ago before Eintracht drew level.
Again, against Dortmund, they rode their luck early on as Reus had excellent chances to make it 3:0 for Dortmund. Eintracht scored and the game was much more leveled in the second half. I am just wondering if their luck will ever end. Eintracht is 6`th with 32 points and they have 9-5-6 till now.
Eintracht has really been pushing the envelope. The defense is shambolic and Leipzig attackers should have enough to break them through. It is a good question if Eintracht can do the same.
Eintrach will be missing the captain Abraham(def.11-0), Toure(def.0-0), Stendera(mid.0-0), Chandler(def.0-0), Torro(mid.5-0).
Leipzig hosted Frankfurt two times before and won both with a 2:1 and 3:0 score. I certainly have more trust in Leipzig today and will go for their win.
