Popyrin - Gerasimov
The focus of tennis is in the desert in California today, but close at neighbor state Arizona there is Challenger tournament. In the first round, a young player from #NextGenATP Popyrin Alexei and 26 year old Egor Gerasimov will meet in the first round.
Popyrin comes from the desert to California, where just two days ago, he played his last match and lost against John Isner 6-0 and 6-2, that is for America s history as never before Isner has lost less than 3 games on ATP Tour. The reason for this defeat Popyrina is that after the game he said that he had problems with his back and this was seen in the game, Popyrin managed to take only 7 points to Isner service in the whole match, and Isner took advantage of 5 out of 8 BP because service of the opponent was desperate to get barely 52% of the first service.
Gerasimov also came from California, but he ended up there too early. He failed to qualify for the main draw losing from Istomin in two sets. But he arrived in Arizona in Saturday and had time to do here training , the court is a bit faster than Indian Wells, and that matches Gerasimovs and his style of play, he has a strong service and I expect there will be a lot of aces.
A little about statistics for Gerasimov and his service this season.
-He played 15 matches this season, all of them were on hard 7 at indoors and 8 at outdoors hard. has
-He played 7 tiebreaks this season so far and won 6 of them.
- Serves 11 aces this season on average , has won 73% of the points on the first service and 50% on another service average this season.
- He has 81% of servise games won and 19% of return games won.
Maybe Popyrin is a quality player, but today I will give priority to Gerasimov because I think that there are more things on his side. The status of the opponent and his problem with his back, courts are more suitable for Gerasimov, and what is most important if he starts good with his service it can be easy win.
