Barcelona - Bayern Munich
Barcelona have had additional prep time for the welcome of Bayern Munich and they have made a bright start to the season, picking up seven points from their three matches. However, we don t need to remind you of the last meeting between these two sides. Bayern are unlikely to romp to another 8-2 win at Camp Nou, but will be confident of claiming an early scalp in their hardest group stage game. The Bundesliga side have won five straight matches, which included a 4-1 thrashing of RB Leipzig in Leipzig on Saturday. With the wind in their sails, and the greater strength in depth, Bayern should earn a huge gameweek one win in midweek. Bayern have scored at least 2 goals in 5 of their last 6 matches against Barcelona in all competitions. Martin Braithwaite joins fellow attackers Ansu Fati, Sergio Aguero and Ousmane Dembele on the sidelines, which should see Luuk de Jong start after his arrival from Sevilla. Jordi Alba and Sergino Dest will both be assessed, though the former is more likely to start here.
Coutinho is yet to make an appearance for Barcelona this season, but may be needed to line up alongside De Jong and Memphis Depay in attack.
Serge Gnabry will be assessed after coming off at the break against RB Leipzig on Saturday with Jamal Musiala in line to deputise if needed. Benjamin Pavard, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller and Leon Goretzka were all taken off in the victory over RB Leipzig, but that was to rest key players rather than through injury. French pair Kingsley Coman and Corentin Tolisso are both ruled out for Bayern.
