Barcelona - Real Madrid
The rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid is regarded as one of the biggest on the planet. Madrid and Barcelona are Spain s largest cities and they are sometimes identified with opposing political positions. Real Madrid are viewed as representing Spanish nationalism and Barcelona viewed as representing Catalan nationalism. The two clubs are among the richest and most successful football clubs in the World; in 2014 Forbes ranked them the World s two most valuable sports teams. Both clubs have a global fan base; they are the two most followed sports teams on social media.
Barcelona are going into the contest in solid form. They are unbeaten in the last six matches across all competitions, but they have only kept one clean sheet in their last nine competitive games. New coach Xavi is doing a solid job, but need time to produce results, Winning the Super Cup will definitely be very helpful for him. Xavi will be missing defender Eric Garcia due to a hamstring injury, while Sergi Roberto and Martin Braithwaite are also sidelined. Pedri and Ferran Torres have been cleared to play alongside Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araujo and Ansu Fati.
Real Madrid are first in Primera and they are the biggest candidates for the title. Coach Carlo Ancelotti is doing an excellent job and the fans are satisfy. He has the majority of his players available for this match, only Mariano Diaz and Gareth Bale are fitness concerns. It would be a surprise to see Ancelotti make many alterations from the side that beat Valencia during the weekend.
As conclusion, this is a big derby. I expect lot of nervous, lot of fouls, lot of yellow cards, maybe even some red. But I think this match will not produced winners after the regular 90 minutes. I expect a draw.
