Besiktas - Borussia Dortmund
Besiktas extended their superb start to the season with a 3-0 win over Yeni Malatyaspor at the weekend. The defending champions top the Super Lig with 10 points from four games and are yet to concede a goal. Conversely, only two teams have conceded more league goals than Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga this season, but then no team has scored more. The German side remain electric going forward, yet their defence remains shaky, something Besiktas will be keen to capitalise upon. This could well be the most entertaining game in the first round of Champions League group stage games, but with Erling Haaland absolutely tearing defences apart, Borussia Dortmund have the pedigree to put three points on the board. Alex Teixeira and Domagoj Vida were both forced off in Besiktas 3-0 win over Yeni Malatyaspor and join Umut Meras and Ajdin Hasic on the sidelines.
Salih Ucan was suspended for the victory, though could return to the starting eleven in the absence of Teixeira. Michy Batshuayi, who spent time on loan with Borussia Dortmund in the past, should lead the line. Marco Rose is sweating on the fitness of Thorgan Hazard and Nico Schulz. Giovanni Reyna, Emre Can, Mateu Morey and Dan-Axel Zagadou are sidelined, while Mats Hummels may have to settle for a spot on the bench once more. Donyell Malen and Julian Brandt are in competition to join Marco Reus and Erling Haaland on the frontline.
