Eintracht Frankfurt - Stuttgart
Three games without a win, Eintracht badly need three points to kick start their season. Stuttgart won their opener 5-1 against Fuerth, but have since lost their last two, conceding seven goals in the process. Stuttgart are badly missing the goals of Sasa Kalajdzic and Silas Wamangituka Fundu, who scored 27 times in total last season. Captain Sebastian Rode needs an op on his knee injury. New signing Jens Petter Hauge or Ajdin Hrustic could slot into midfield. Filip Kostic went on strike to try and force a move to Lazio but remains at the club. Eintracht have added Denmark international Jesper Lindström from Bröndby on a five-year deal, while Christopher Lenz has arrived from Union Berlin. Omar Marmoush will bolster attacking options after arriving on loan from leaders Wolfsburg, while Wahid Faghir, another young attacker, has signed from Vejle BK in Denmark. Silas Wamangituka Fundu is still out with a knee injury, but has at least served his suspension for playing under a false identity.
Nikolas Nartey and Tanguy Coulibaly are both nearing returns from COVID-19. Top scorer Sasa Kalajdzic returned from COVID-19, but immediately succumbed to a shoulder injury which could keep him out of the action until the winter break. Naouirou Ahamada has a calf injury, while Momo Cissé has a foot injury and Lilian Egloff has had a foot op. Mohamed Sankoh faces six months out with a serious knee injury, while new signing Chris Furich is nearing a return from a foot fracture. Talented youngster Ömer Beyaz has joined on a free from Fenerbahce, and is now allowed to play after receiving clearance.
