Manchester City - RB Leipzig
Manchester City have bounced back from their opening weekend 1-0 loss to Tottenham in fine fashion, winning the subsequent three league matches, scoring 11 and conceding none in the process. After their Champions League final defeat in May, they ll be keen to get their European campaign off to a winning start on Wednesday. RB Leipzig have struggled under Jesse Marsch, losing three of four league matches, and were put to the sword by Bayern in Leipzig on Saturday. Their last trip to Manchester saw them smashed 5-0 by Manchester United in the group stages last season, so they ll be keen to avoid a repeat this week. City have the greater strength in depth and on a three-game winning run, should make light work of their Bundesliga counterparts. Zack Steffen recently tested positive for COVID-19 and misses out, while Benjamin Mendy has been remanded in police custody. John Stones and Oleksandr Zinchenko are yet to start a competitive game for City this season, so will hope to benefit from some rotation to feature in defence. Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez are also in contention for the home side.
Marcelo Saracchi and Marcel Halstenberg miss the trip to Manchester due to injury. Angelino lasted 58 minutes of his return from injury at the weekend, but is expected to feature from the outset here, while Jesse Marsch may also start Lukas Klostermann in place of Nordi Mukiele at right-back. Tyler Adams, Amadou Haidara and Emil Forsberg were among the subs in the 4-1 loss to Bayern on Saturday evening and could return to the starting eleven.
