Basilashvilli - Kovalik

In this match of second round of ATP Sardinia Open Nikoloz Basilashvilli from Georgia will play against Jozef Kovalik from Slovakia. Basilasvilli is currently ranked at 37th position on ATP list and Kovalik sits outside of top 100 players in 128th place. They have met once before and Basilasvilli won 2-1. That match was played also on clay.

Basilashvilli won very strong tournament in Doha some 20 days ago. There he has beaten Federer, Fritz and Bautista Agut in the Final. Amazing achievement for him. After that win he lost two tournament in first round. He will want to return to winning ways asap and he will have good opponent do to just that. Kovalik started in qualifiers here. In first round he had beaten Nagal.

Nagal is good player but he is nowhere near Basilasvilli. Georgian player will need to be focused in this match. Kovalik is not a joke especially on clay. If Basilashvilli can play his best tennis today he can win this easily. But you never know with a player like him. What is important is that his personal problems are finally behind him.
